Without Permission

Self Curated – MFA Thesis Show

Without Permission is an ongoing body of work that examines memory, agency, and containment as lived experiences within the body. The materials and forms emerge from moments where control is imposed or withdrawn, often without consent, reflecting how memory moves, settles, and resurfaces on its own terms. As seen throughout the series, restriction becomes both a physical condition and an emotional state, revealing the tension between being held and being confined. These works do not aim to resolve that tension, but to make it visible, acknowledging the ways bodies, histories, and memories exist in varied states of fracture, resistance, and endurance. This exhibition represents the core of my focus from 2024 through early 2025, marking a sustained period of reckoning with loss of agency, fatigue, and the quiet persistence of memory.
